How is your skin since being in lock down? If you’re like many of us, your skin is probably looking a little worse for wear since being indoors more than usual. There are a few issues at work here.

Firstly, the current pandemic has likely to have caused a higher degree of stress on you both mentally and physically. External factors that cause us to stress can be very ageing on your skin and hair.

Do you ever notice how your skin looks or feel when you’re busy, tired or stressed?

Stress causes a chemical response in your body that makes your skin more sensitive and reactive. It can also make it harder for your skin problems to heal. When we’re stressed or our bodies are rundown our skin feels it as well and we tend to have more breakouts. Stress causes your body to produce more of the cortisol hormone which can trigger many skin conditions such as acne, eczema, hives and rosacea.

Lack of sunlight can also be a factor behind your lack luster skin. The sun’s rays have a natural anti-inflammatory effect therefore many skin conditions often become worse in the cooler months or when you’ve been spending a lot more time inside. As you have been spending more time indoors, and keeping ourselves warm with artificial heating you will often find your skin will become dry and flakey.

And lastly, the closure of your favorite spa or salon that you have been unable to visit, your regular facials have had to unfortunately, stop. Perhaps you’ve been unable to purchase your usual at home skin care products and opting to use up some of that old moisturizer that you’ve been hiding in the back of the bathroom cupboard. Did you know that old, opened creams can be less effective and may contain bacteria which in turn can lead to skin issues?

But now that we are back open we have the perfect treatment for you and your skin!
Our Mud Signature Microdermabrasion treatment will get your skin back on track.

What is a microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion treatments use a variable flow of vacuum suction to maintain contact with the skin whilst the diamond (or crystal) tips work to smoothing and buff your skin’s surface. This painless, effective, and a non-invasive treatment, with no downtime which helps to treat pigmentation, acne scars, uneven skin tone, sun damage, fine lines, dullness, dehydrated skin and congested pores.

What does a Microdermabrasion do for your skin?
Microdermabrasion is an in-spa mechanical exfoliation treatment that will deeply exfoliate and refine your skin. Using medical grade diamond tips whilst simultaneously using suction therapy to stimulate the lymphatic system, we can unclog pores, remove blackheads, congestion and dead skin cells leaving your skin instantly smoother, brighter and healthier. Also allowing optimal penetration to treat your personal skin concerns faster. It will help to improve your skins texture and superficial fine lines and wrinkles. This treatment will help to increase levels of collagen and elastin to allow better absorption of your skincare products. If you apply moisturizer to dry, congested skin it won’t effectively penetrate your target areas and therefore not receiving the full benefits of your moisturizer.

What Does Microdermabrasion feel like?
I will often explain to my clients that it can be a little scratchy, however the satisfying feeling of the buffing and polishing motion leaving your fresh clean skin. Many clients leave their treatment instantly seeing their skin glowing and feeling smooth.

Along with our full hour microdermabrasion treatment we also offer a Lunch Time Micro. So quick that it can be done in your lunch break!! And you won’t be disappointed. With little recovery time this is the perfect pop-in pop-out lunch break treatment. We will apply some Youngblood Mineral Makeup as this is the perfect foundation to use post facial. No nasties.

Our trained therapists will also recommend a post treatment skincare regime to continue your treatment at home. You may be quite surprised by what your skin needs at this time.

To reap the benefits of your microdermabrasion it is important to stay hydrated and use a suitable sunscreen or BB cream with an SPF. A freshly exfoliated face is more prone to sun damage.

Depending on your skin concerns we would likely recommend a micro treatment every 4 – 6 weeks.
